The Background - Our Inflatable Paddle Board Innovation
At Red, we’ve been inspiring adventures since 2008 when the very first Red Paddle Co board was made. Back then, paddleboarding was still a pretty niche hobby, with those enjoying the benefits of being on the water usually from hefty and expensive hard paddle boards. Inflatable paddle boards, on the other hand, were flimsy, unreliable, and generally everything that a reliable bit of kit shouldn’t be.
Our founder, John Hibbard, saw an opportunity to create an inflatable paddle board which was as performance-ready as a hard board but with all of the portability and user-friendly characteristics needed to get more people on the water. Advanced technology was prioritised in the initial Red Paddle Co SUP board construction, and our industry-leading MSL technology was born, delivering boards that were, and still are, tougher and more efficient than the other inflatable options available.
The Red Paddle Co SUP board range has since evolved significantly, from family-friendly all-round boards to our much-loved Adventure range, which encompasses inflatable paddle boards for both beginners and speciality paddling types.

Choosing Your Red Paddle Co SUP Board
Our current range is designed to offer a Red Paddle Co SUP board for all abilities. When choosing yours, it is therefore helpful to have an understanding of exactly what you are trying to achieve as a paddler, the type of trips you might end up going on, and how any improvements in technique may alter what you want and need from your stand up paddle board.
Ask yourself the following questions which will help you to narrow down your needs and requirements within the Red Paddle Co SUP board range:
- Will your inflatable paddle board be for all-round use, or more specific conditions and requirements like racing or white water?
- Are you planning to travel with your Red Paddle Co SUP, or will most of your adventuring be done close to home?
- Is speed on the water a priority, or are you focused on stability?
- Are you paddleboarding solo, or with family & friends?

Ride & Compact Red Paddle Co SUP Boards
Best for: all-round paddling and easy travel
The first Red Paddle Co SUP board was designed to deliver the ultimate all-round paddling experience - a philosophy that has been carried into the construction of every board we’ve made since. In fact, the all-round inflatable paddle board is still at the very core of what we do best, with a range of options available. These boards are particularly suitable for those wanting a reliable ride and a SUP that they can take away without any hassle.
At the heart of our all-round offering is the Ride range, which includes the best-selling 10’6” Ride. This inflatable paddle board features a twin-fin set up for exceptional manoeuvrability, a low-profile perfect for beginner paddlers, and the board shape - a rounded nose and tail - designed for stability and predictable handling. Meanwhile, the 10’8” Ride is the ultimate all-round experience for bigger or less confident paddlers.
Sport Red Paddle Co SUP Boards
Best for: touring and a little more speed
Paddlers looking to progress their skills and technique need a board that can meet them there, which is why the Red Paddle Co SUP board range quickly evolved to match more advanced needs too. This is where the 12’6” ticks all of the boxes. Narrow and nippy, it’s designed for adventure and exploration and paddlers crossing over into long-distance paddling.
The narrow cut of the 12’6” Sport allows for a quicker and smoother cut across the water when compared to an all-round board. It’s also highly responsive and glides efficiently even in challenging conditions, thanks to the advanced MSL 800 construction.
Voyager Red Paddle Co SUP Boards
Best for: long-distance and multi-day adventures
The Red Paddle Co SUP board range also includes boards designed for paddleboarding adventures spanning long distances and multiple days. If you’re concerned about your inflatable paddle board having enough space to store all your gear for an upcoming trip, or keen to ensure it can handle every twist and turn on your travels, our Voyager SUPs are the right pick.
These Red Paddle Co SUP boards are noticeably longer than the rest of the range, spanning 12’6” to 13’2”. The additional size allows for optimal glide and plenty of room, and functionality for overnight kit storage.
Typically, the larger the rider, the larger the size Voyager board you should buy. However, it’s also worth considering how size and profile will affect handling and tracking. The 12’6” delivers a good balance of stability and punch, while the 13’2” can rack up speed more quickly but may do so with slightly less stability.
Elite Red Paddle Co SUP Boards
Best for: racing
SUP racing is rapidly growing in popularity, with more and more events cropping up worldwide every year. Developing a market-leading racing paddle board has therefore been incredibly important to us here at Red, and we’re delighted with where we’ve landed in the Future Series range.
Designed for advanced paddlers and those actively competing, the 12’6” Elite Red Paddle Co SUP board is a best-in-class racing SUP. Its incredibly narrow shape (just 25”) allows it to cut through the water with minimal resistance, still delivering stability on the turn thanks to the square tail. This inflatable paddle board also features EVA rail risers, which allow for paddling of the highest power and effective steering to give you a competitive edge on race day - even in comparison to hard boards.
For seasoned and seriously competitive racers, the 14’0” Elite is the ultimate Red Paddle Co SUP Board. It’s our fastest and stiffest construction thanks to the inclusion of RSS battens and an FFC nose-rod. Handling is awesome too, with a traction deckpad and drawn-out rails which allow for exceptional glide and distance per stroke.
Speciality Red Paddle Co SUP Boards
Best for: your next favourite paddling hobby
In our experience, the more time you spend on the water, the more time you spend trying to experience it in slightly different ways. Racing is just one of the more specialist paddleboarding pursuits that has boomed as the Red Paddle Co SUP board range has grown.
For specialist riding in choppy, white-water conditions, the 9’6” Wild is the ultimate companion. This Red Paddle Co SUP board features a high-volume 280l design to keep you stable in very rough conditions. The extra-grippy deckpad helps you to stay in the right stance, while a pronounced rocker profile means this Red Paddle Co SUP board can withstand the physical test it will face in a white water environment.
Multi-Person Red Paddle Co SUP Boards
Best for: paddling adventures with others
If your paddling adventures involve your nearest and dearest, there’s no reason why you can’t consider sharing a Red Paddle Co SUP board. Our inflatable paddle board range also includes a SUP carefully constructed for multiple people to use at once.
The biggest board in our entire range is the 17’0” XL Ride - a jumbo inflatable paddle board which can comfortably hold up to 8 paddlers. As part of the Ride range, this SUP has all of the features of an all-round board (durable MSL construction, easy transportation and superb stability), just in a seriously high volume design.
