Written by Luke Green /

Father’s Day is just around the corner and so if you’re still wondering how to spend it this year then the following guide should give you all the inspiration you need. If you’re a family who prefers being outside all the time, there are so many fun Father’s Day activities you can enjoy in the great outdoors. Let’s take a look at just a few of our favourite ideas!

Enjoy A Family Bike Ride

Why not

pack up a picnic and head out on the bikes for a day? You could stay local or take the opportunity to explore some new trails and cycling destinations. A long bike ride is a great way to get out of the house with the family for a day and see some beautiful wildlife and scenery while you’re at it.

Camp In The Garden

This one might be weather dependent, but if the sun is shining (which fingers crossed it will be), one of our favourite father’s day activities is camping in the garden. Garden camping is one of our top Father’s Day activities for kids as you can spend the day setting up camp together and then enjoy a delicious meal under the stars, all without the hassle of being away from your home amenities.

Try Out A New Watersport

Trying out a new activity as a family can be really good fun, and there’s no better time to do it than on Father’s Day. Maybe you’ve fancied trying out kayaking for a while or surfing. Give it a go this Father’s Day. If you’re trying out a watersport for the first time it’s a good idea to join an instructor session where you’ll be given the gear and guidance you need to get started. You never know, you might find one of your new favourite father’s day activities for future years.

Spend The Day Doing Your Favourite Watersport

Perhaps your family are already keen paddle boarders, sailors or swimmers. In which case, why not make the most of a day out on the water? If you’re still not sure what to buy your dad this year, get him some practical gear he can use when he’s next out on the water such as accessories or clothing.

Plan A Father’s Day Scavenger Hunt

One of our favourite ideas for Father’s Day activities is to organise a Father’s Day scavenger hunt. This activity takes a little bit of organisation however it’s such great fun for kids and adults alike once everything is set up. If you’ve never done a scavenger hunt before, it involves hiding items in different locations (can just be in your back garden) for participants to find via a series of clues and riddles. We promise it’s great fun and something a little bit different to enjoy this Father’s Day.

Go On A Hike together

The UK has so many beautiful hiking trails to offer and so why not spend this Father’s Day exploring? From coastal walks to moorland, there are so many great walks to complete wherever you are in the UK. It’s a great way to spend time as a family outside of the house and for Dads who love nature, this is bound to be one of the best Father’s Day activities you can do.

Host A Garden Games Tournament

Some of the best Father’s Day activities can be enjoyed in your very own garden. From skittles to tennis to giant Jenga there are so many fun lawn games that will keep the kids entertained for hours on end. You can always make a day of it by turning it into a mini-tournament with prizes to be won at the end.

Hit The Beach

If the sun is shining, there’s nothing better than a day having fun on the beach. And if the weather isn’t looking tip-top, it’s still really fun to throw on some wellies and rain jackets and head for a walk on the beach with the family. It’s a great way to get some fresh air and you can take some hot drinks with you to enjoy afterwards.

Treat Dad To A Cookout

Spoil Dad a little bit (it is Father’s Day after all) by treating him to some delicious food outdoors. Depending on the facilities you have available to you, you could organise a backyard campfire or set up a simple BBQ in the garden- both are just as fun, and either way, you’ll get to enjoy some quality time as a family all whilst munching on some yummy food.

Have A Picnic

Last but not least on our list of top 10 Father’s Day activities is a good old fashioned picnic. Pick a good location, pack all of Dad’s favourite foods and head out to enjoy some chilled time together. You could also take some games like frisbee or football to enjoy once you’re done eating.
